Finally Completed Critical Review
Monday, September 21, 2009

Finally, I have manage to complete my HUP critical review in time, and submit at the give deadline. Although I am not do well in the assignment, at least I have to get it done within time. So that it would get mark deducted unnecessarily, -5% per day .

This is the 2nd critical review for HUP, each semester we had to do one. It is so difficult, and I always have to struggle. I have been staying up for the past few nights, just for this assignment but just can't seem to have the motivation to do it until today.

Oh.. and I webcam my family last week, just a few days after the post. They seem busy, preparing for some events, especially since the mooncake festival and my cousin's wedding is drawing near. It's a pity, I would be able to attend my cousin's wedding, on 27th Sept 2009. A year at Australia, has make me learn and miss a lot at the same time. Missed the arrival of 3 newborn members to the family; 2 cousins and 1 nephew (i suppose).

But it's okay, I will get to see them when I am back. Another headache problem is, the final examination will be starting in exactly 1 month time. On the 21st Oct, I will be having the IMM pracitcal exam, followed by BMS, HUP and the last is DEV. Wonder if I can finish the revision of all of them within 1 month....

I must really score and get this done and for all.. Need to pull up the grades, to apply for summer vacation and further studies, although not sure if I will continue for Honours.

So much thing to do within such a short itme... I'm so tired... Need to sleep now, if not tomorrow might not be able to wake up on time for lecture...

End of BMS3042 - Laboratory Placement @ MMC
Thursday, September 10, 2009

Today is just full of drama.

First I though I lost my ring, next I missed the bus (703), then I randomly took another bus to thte loop but I validate the wrong card and I almost lost my 5x weekend saver which I had only used 3times (but managed to find it back) and I was last cause I missed another bus (733) from Monash Bus Loop.

Today is the last day of BMS3042 Laboratory Placement @ Monash Medical Centre (MMC). We had undertook the placement under cardiovascular department. It was great to have the opportunity to learn some skills and knowledge they had done, in the department for their research.

We learn about: FMD, IVUS, Tonometry, PAT. We got to try analyze of the patient's file too. However, at times, it really get quite boring as it just all about looking at the vessel and heart beat through computer screen.

Last but not least, at the end of the placement, we have to submit a 700words Editorial which I have yet to start. It is really giving me a hard time. Karen has at least come up with a draft, all she is left now is to remodify and edit it. Wonder if I will be able to make it for the assignment.

The good thing that happen today is that SAM has organize a durian fest, and I bought 2 tix ($10) which got me a forzen durain and 2 proccessed coconut drinks. I really miss durian a lot, this the the 2nd time I am having durain here in melburone; 1st - RMIT Durian Fest, Semester 1 2nd - Monsh Uni Durian Fest, Semester 2. When I am back in Singapore, I will make sure I got get the real, fresh durain.

Anyway, I have just pack them into a box and refrigerate them, cause I am just too tired after a long day and opening up the durian (it's time first attempt to open up the durian by myself, back in SG, it is usually my dad and at times my mum who do the job). Now I understand the difficulty of it, next time instead of just eating, I will try to be the one opening for them. > <

And I was just wondering why hasn't my parents being contacting me since last week. Kind of miss them, and wonder how they are. My left eye lid has be twitching, hope nothing bad has happen to anyone. Hope everyone is doing well, peace in family and in goo health; nothing bad should happen to anyone.

It's late now (Aus: 2.00am), I am heading to bed.. Nitez.. zzzz

P.S. Next post: TBA

Wonder who will still read my blog........

Although today should not have been a long day, it end up taking up the whole day. If according to the time-table, our only lesson is from 1-6pm. However, because we had to go to Alfred Hospital for Laboratory Placement (for approx. 5 weeks), and after the lab, we went to Cranebourwell's Sophia.

The mini project was really fun, I get to dissect out the flesh of a cooked bug, which is one of the seafood I enjoyed a lot. To identify the allergen protein which people who are allergy to.

On the way there, Fidah & Aruna got caught for taking the tram without validating the metcard, their names and address was noted down. Possible to get fine ($170) or a warning letter, the outcome will be notify through mail.

It was the first Sophia that we to and the food was the best so far, as compared to Blackburn's. The seafood platter was full of calamari and the sauce if "free-flow". And as usual we order the seafood platter, pasta-mista, pizza and the ICE-CREAM.

After dinner, it was late and dark outside, we were all so tired that we missed out stop, end up we had to alight at Flinder Station, taking the train to Caulfield instead of Toorak. And I really slept through the journey home, on train.

And now, it's 1.20am (AUS) I am going to sleep now, tomorrow we have another laboratory placement, this time at Monash Medical Center (MMC), and a lecture in the morning (maybe skipping). At night still have SEF activity, darkzone and possible the Nott.

P.S: I'm sure karen will be blogging this as well in her blog, keep a lookout.. One day, maybe I can get the full Melboune Entries from her..

Last Moment - Graduation
Friday, January 23, 2009

Todae is the last day. Tommorow, is the Graduation High Tea for School Applied Science (SAS) @ Megu (1 - 5pm).

The feeling I have in me right now, can be hardly describe by words. I have all kind of feeling insde, mixed; sad, happy and etc.

A relief that we have end our education here, but also kind of pity we are leaving this uniqe insititue and facilities.

Time flies, without us know, we are about to end our 3years of tertiay education in RP. If seem like just yesterday that we have enrolled in, as a freshman. A Newbie who know other and still ahve the nerdy look but now, we are all seniors and about to embark our next chapter of life.

It is especially so for someone like me who spend majority of my time here, RP is like a home to me. I have make a lot of first attempt here including organizing events. Organizing events, is what I enjoy the most and greatful to RP, for giving the opportunity to explore my potential in the area.

RP has also given me a lot of opportunity for character building such as service learning program both local and oversea, it was an eye opening for me. An experience I would never forget, pricelss and educational despite the process may be a challenge but my team manage to overcome, which bring us more bonded together.

And now, I have to leave this comfortable home (a home I have build from a strange place), moving on to the next path RP has linked me to without me noticing/planned before hand. Will definitely come back to RP, if possible..

I'll miss the people and food (especially the Cafe Esplande, Milk Tea) here.

***Sobz.. Crying...

**The last look of RP, we were the first batch to use RP woodlands campus for the full 3years course.

Summary of the month - Last Week

Basically, it has been ages since I last updated my blog.. it's ok, i'll juz write more now.. haha... Sorry for the irregular updates..
The month (Jan '09) is neither long nor short.. but definitely, a month which I have a lot of feeling mixed inside, a sense of unbearable to leave, the "home" which I had spend majority of the time, in the past 3 years.

In the last 1 week, I attend all the lessons but no presentation for 3rd meeting. We just simply did some slides, to cover while having games and fun during the 3rd meeting.

Structurial Bio:
- We play passing a message game, to discribe and translate the word to other teammates. And the last one will have to guess. But it's really fun, as we will be able to see how the information is being missed translate and the funny side of our peer.

Cell Cycle & Oncology:
- We play murder version 1 and 2. It's really fun, a class bonding game, the whole class acutally put down the stuff on hand and come together. And we were so enjoy that we missed the time instead of the inital plan of 3, we ended around 4pm.

And Jem, even bake muffins for us, and bought some rolls and jelly. We also had a singing session, a short preview of Jem performance.
Sngers: Realli good singer
- Jem
- Shah
- Fidah
- Sabita
- Others (from other class)
Biomedical Sicence:
- We had a chit chat session with our very dear and pretty Faci, Jia. Through it, we get to know more about her and she get to know more about us. She has also treated us with Mocha and Brownie from Cafe Galilee..

Bioinfomatics:
- Had a fun tour in our RP data center. During 3rd meeting, we even come up with a stratergy plan to achieve our goal.

Plus, it's the first time I had a real chat with Melanie, about life in Melbourne although the univeristy maybe different. The chat lasted about 2 hours..

Neurobiology:
- Once again, we played the murder game but onli version 1, but it's addictive. Not to forget, we also teach Anu, (faci) how to play mahjong, which is part of the problem statement.
And she cook for us, it's the second time.. Her cooking skill was real good, able to bake and cook. Every one of us had fun and it's kind of pretty good attendance for a last day class.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
On Tue, we (Karen, Ying Jun and Han Kiat) also send off Esther with a dinner @ Pastamia, before she leave for Hong Kong, 6am in the morning, going alone there to visit her relative over the new year and also purchase some items for Melbourn since the weather is almost similar.

Then on Wed, we (Karen, Jovina, Tai^2) send off Ying Jun with a dinner @ mac, he leaving at 1am in the morning.
The landed ard 6am, sms me when he reached. And the both of them seem to be having fun back home, they kept me update through msn.

Tuesday, January 06, 2009

Busy Busy... It's been a chaos month, where I could have no free day. I'm always following my tight schedule, either in school, having UTs, having driving lessons or attend IELTS @ British Council.

However, as 2008 come to drawn an end, my schedule start to loosen up. And I've passed my driving, got my LICENSE. And have complete my course at British Council, don't have rush to town for lesson after school. Not to forget, FYP is over, no more being tied down to visit clinic, no more rejection...

At the moment, I am waiting to take the IELTS exam on 10th & 12th Jan and concentrate on the remaining UTs.

***Counting down to the day to leave for Monash (12 Feb)...

IRRITATING - BITTER - NEUROBIO.
Thursday, November 06, 2008

So far, this is the BITTEREST module I every had..

IP vs. NON-IP I thought is already the worse, but now I know Big MAMA can go a step further.. 2 Team presenting the same topic, 1 with reference to hard-copy notez (I would praise them for being hardworking to look into books to research & print it out) but "directly" reference and present based on notez while the other team, learn by heart and never refer to anything during presentation.

The team that learn by heart have NO COMMENT, it will be commented in the grade but the team that presented in detail because of direct reading from notez got praised. You know what, I doubt many have really listen their presentation as it is to detail & lengthy, they did not even thought of ways to captive their audience attention, they juz need the Big MAMA's ATTENTION..

Quoted from her: "THE PRESENTATION IS BEYOND THE WORD EXCELLENT. IT'S PERFECT, THEY HAD WELL EXPLAIN EVERY DETAILS, HAVE ALL THE STEPS CORRECT."

Of course it has to be correct, it reading from the notez, if there is any wrong, then it must be the book faults... or the reader eyes/brain got problem..

However, you know the most hilarious that at the end of the day, she say we went too detaiedl, even more than the 6p coverage and well present the point, better than the notez given by the Uni. as this is one of the Uni selected modules. On the other hand, she is always demanding us to present more, complain us especially the IP is performaning below her expectation, the NON-IP have done BETTER...

Todae, there are only 4 team, quite a number of student didn't attend school among the 4 team (20ppl), there are 14 IP student (Full attentance).. Still she dun like us, always have prejudice against us..

Really dun understand WHY? WHY?
TELL ME WHY...

Attending her lesson really make my Blood Pressure HIGH, MOOD Swing, LOSE of Appetite and experience PMS.

When I came home, as usual, I shared with my Dad what happens in school, the good & bad... Told my Dad about it, he say I should have "CLAP Loudly" instead of juz accumulating the anger inside and suffer.. BE SARCASTIC to her, "AGREE" with her..

I will take my revenge sooner or later.. Big MAMA better watch out, dun say I never warn first, better know where is the limit and stop before it's too late...

** Feeling a little Better after saying all out.. Huuu... Please give some suggestion on the revenge plan if you also face/experience the same problem.... > <.. Nitez..
